QUIETING YOUR ANXIOUS MIND

Living with anxiety today is not an easy task.  There are so many ways we choose to cope with it, but we do not fully understand the harm we may be causing.  There are healthy ways to deal with anxiety and unhealthy ones.  Do you know the difference?  Are we making good choices when it comes to coping?  How does God say to cope?  After we are through, you will gain that understanding.

To start off it is important to know what anxiety does to our bodies and our souls.  (Proverbs 12:25) “Anxious hearts are very heavy, but a word of encouragement does wonders.”  What does this mean?  This means that anxiety, worry and stress harm our bodies and our souls.  Anxiety is no good, so do like the scripture says encourage yourselves!  Feed good food to that soul of yours.

What can we do to cope and feed good food to our souls?  We do what God says to do when we feel the anxiety or stress coming.  (1 Peter 5:7) “Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.”

(Ecclesiastes 11:10) “ So banish grief and pain, but remember that youth, with whole life before it can make serious mistakes.”

When we feel anxious don’t suppress the healing by doing something that only covers the anxiety or pain.  Sometimes we turn to alcohol and drugs when we feel anxious.  That is not healthy, instead give it to God!  He is a miracle worker, he is always faithful to his children.  God wants us to lay it on him when we feel this way.

(Psalm 94:19) “ Lord, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me a renewed hope and cheer.”

(Mathew 6:34) “ So don’t be anxious about tomorrow.  God will take care of your tomorrow too.  Live one day at a time.”

(Luke 12:22-23 KJV) “Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.”

(Mathew 6:25 KJV) “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”

(Mark 13:11 KJV) “But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.”

(1 Peter 3:14 KJV) “But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled”

(Philippians 4:6-7 KJV) “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
